What It's About: I’m a big fan of Marc Chaikin’s Power Gauge System for choosing stocks. It’s based on his 40 plus years of experience, and includes 20 variables all weighted by an algorithm that determines whether a stock is a bear, neutral or bull. It’s predictive and very successful.

So What?: Like Chaikin, I’ve been working on a system for more than 40 years too. And now with my superb partner, Debbie Blakeman, and help from industrial psychologists, we’ve developed a culture power gauge. We believe the application and maturity of 10 culture variables can assess the status of your culture, and determine its current and predictive health. Over time the changes in the data from the culture system power ratings will let you know if your organization is moving towards thriving or toxicity. 

The secret sauce is the weight and application to certain variables in situations. We will never make that public, although our 10 variables are widely available, and I teach them regularly in my Harvard class, University of Alberta MBA program, and private clients.

Now What?: Organizations applying the IcE10 (Integrated Cultural Elements) will have access to ongoing predictive data and insight. Over time, changes in one or more of the elements will signal the need for proactive and focused action to continue a positive, sustainable culture; ultimately a thriving, extraordinary and even magical one. One Millennial View: I’ve seen this IcE10 process be taught and implemented quite a few times, and now the idea of incorporating analytic data and insight will only bring this great (not perfect) system to a whole new level.
