What It’s About: This is a good time to objectively review what you and I ingested in 2022. What was on your plate? Literally and metaphorically? How much was junk versus nourishing? This is totally subjective, and for you and I to honestly assess. It’s not intended to be guilt inducing judgment, but rather about honesty and self accountability.

Everything we ingest adds up to make us healthier or not. In our humanness, most of us wrestle with the things we eat and drink daily. Should we have that burger? Second glass of wine? Diet soft drink? etc. As straight forward or obvious the right decision may be, taking the best action is not always our choice.

The same applies to the information we inhaled throughout the year. What did we learn that was valuable? Enriched us mentally? How many thought provoking books/articles/podcasts/movies/shows etc. did we read, watch, or listen to? How much have we grown intellectually? And, what did we learn to improve?

What experiences did we engage in to make us richer by the activity? How have we added to our personal competencies?

What relationships with others did we embrace? How did hanging out with them help us grow? How did being in the same circle nourish us and them?

What are we able to add to our full body of work, because of what we did or did not do in 2022?

So What?: I believe that each of us is on Earth with a very personal assignment to advance ourselves and give to others. We are totally unique. Comparing ourselves to anyone else is mostly unhelpful, and a distraction. The priority obligation we have is to carry out our personal assignment by continuously improving ourselves, and becoming healthier in every way we can. Of course, we grow older daily, and all lose physical health at some time regardless of what we eat or drink. This is countered by ideally expanding more intellectually, emotionally and spiritually as we increase in age. Overall, our complete health amounts to what we ingest and what we think/DO.

Determining our personal purpose in life is often hard to pin down. What is manageable and accessible, however, is what we ingest and do. We define that by the hour and day. In 2022 did you become healthier or not? By how much? Less?

Now What?: Hours, days and even years can disappear with little intentional focus on who we are becoming. The most meaningful currency we have is TIME, and none of us know how much we have left. We have NOW. That’s it!

Many of us can get trapped in the past or future. Our mind can be a bossy, counterproductiv, mischief maker, rather than a tool for our use. As philosopher, Eckhart Tolle, emphasizes, “you are not your mind.” I want to boss my mind to be an ally and helpful friend, not the other way around.

I am my purpose. This coming year, I will take a step forward and ingest with more healthy intentionality. My 2023 buffet of choices will be more nutritious in every way. How about you?

Happy holidays and seasons greetings,

Lorne

One Millennial View: Hey, sometimes you think your overall health plan is going great, and then that thought “seizures” to exist. Be merry for the now, sleigh in control of what you can, and plan for 2023 to be a season to greet, indeed. Happy Holidays to all of you!
